2020 has certainly been a challenging and unprecedented year, but the COL staff, students, family, and community rose to it.


Carriers of Light: Flexible and Safe Reopening

COL in accordance to state and national laws implemented a flexible and safe opening plan that followed a three phase model. We are currently implementing stage 3 of the model.

Welcome Back to School (I)

  • Small group orientation for parents and students..

  • Rolling out subjects over 2-3 weeks.

  • Daily interactive virtual live sessions.

  • Weekly on-site sessions and one-on-one support

Adjusting to the New Norm Hybrid ( II)

  • 50% reduced classroom capacity; AM & PM cohort group.

  • 3.5 hours on-site learning; 2.5 h at home learning.

  • Increased cleaning and disinfection guidelines.

  • Accommodation for students with entirely remote preference

Continue with Flexibility and Perseverance (III)

  • Prepared to transition between Model I & Model II

  • Follow State and local health department guidelines.

  • Adjust our plan every 4 – 8 weeks.

  • Focus on core subjects and the wellbeing of our community

Advantages of the Flexible and Safe Reopening Plan

  1. Being prepared for a possible second wave of Covid-19 by ensuring that our LMS (online learning platforms) are up and are put 100% into use by teachers, students and parents.

  2. Ease into in-person schooling days with thorough opportunities to practice and adjust our safety practices and guidelines.

  3. Learn from others’ experiences.

Safety Plan in Place

  1. Temperature and wellness check before & upon arrival

  2. Face masks are mandatory for all ages inside the building.

  3. Social distancing as much as possible.

  4. Evaluating and enhancing ventilation system in the building.

  5. Sanitizing stations by entrances, hallways.

  6. Lunch & recess are eliminated. Nap time for Preschool is eliminated.

  7. Quarantine room and proactive policy about illness.
